Information/Write-up

I’m hooked on these annual compilations from the students and faculty at Fanshaw College, in London Ontario. Most of the industry Pop found on these comps feel canned and fall short of the mark, but when they work, they are a perfect storm of nascent idealism and polished pro-touch. This volume from 1977 holds two lifted student jams; Kurt Hagen’s Storm in the Sky and Jim Lamarche’s Make Believe. The former, a Moogy folk floater reminiscent of These Trails, and the latter a blue-eyed AOR ballad, with a breezy arrangement of flute, rhodes and synth.
